Transfer to Samburu National Park

Check-in Sasaab Lodge

Enjoy another world-class breakfast at Tortilis Camp or out in the bush before being transferred back to Wilson Airport in Nairobi. From here you will fly in a light aircraft flight to the Samburu National Reserve. After your flight touches down, you will be met by a representative from Sasaab Lodge and transferred to the Moroccan and Swahili designed lodge.

The rugged and semi-desert park is situated in the Rift Valley Province. The park was once inaccessible which has preserved a raw and untamed essence. The park borders the homes of the nomadic Samburu tribe allowing you to experience their age-old ways of life.

The Ewaso Ng’iro river cuts through the park providing incredible game sightings due to the concentration of wildlife around the water source in the otherwise dry region, bringing about an incredible meeting of the biggest, fastest and most dangerous wildlife in Kenya.

Experience the reinvention of the safari as you explore this wildlife area by camelback. Traversing through the arid landscape, as well as areas inaccessible to vehicles by camel provides a unique perspective of the park that few have experienced. For the adrenaline junkies, quad bikes are available for you to explore the park at your own speed.

Where you’ll stay: Sasaab Lodge

Sasaab Lodge is a luxury tented camp located in Samburu National Reserve. Each of the nine Moroccan-styled rooms is over 100m² with an enormous open-air bathroom and private plunge pool.

Transfer to Masai Mara

Check-in Kichwa Tembo Tented

After your final breakfast at Sasaab Lodge it’s not uncommon for our guests not to want to leave. However, after arriving in the iconic Masai Mara National Reserve, you will soon remember why you love exploring new destinations. You will enjoy a light aircraft flight from Saasab airrstrip to Masai Mara.

This next location on your Kenya Safari experience is named in honour of the Masai people that live, to this day, off of the land in the area, despite sharing their residence with big game and dangerous predators.

Your time in the Masai Mara National Park will be enriching, both due to unsurpassed wildlife encounters as well as unforgettable cultural experiences. LuxVenture™ trips are all about making a connection and leaving a positive legacy, and this is your opportunity to do just that.

Your home in the Masai Mara National Park is Kichwa Tembo Tented Camp. Situated in the park, where riverine forest meets expansive plains, the camp looks out directly at the path of the Great Migration, ask your Ker & Downey Africa adventurist about how to time your trip to witness this historic wildlife event from Kichwa.

Where you’ll stay: Kichwa Tembo Tented

Situated in the Masai Mara National Park, Kichwa Tembo Tented Camp boasts panoramic views of the private concession. With timeless interiors that are simple yet sophisticated and stylish, the Camp is perfectly situated for complete privacy.
