Your Luxury Private Safari in Zambia starts on arrival at Livingstone Airport where a Ker & Downey Africa representative will meet you and welcome you to Zambia. You will be transferred over one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World, Victoria Falls to the award-winning Royal Chundu Zambezi Island Lodge by helicopter. Tucked away on a remote island in the Zambezi, Relais & Châteaux Royal Chundu Zambezi Island Lodge features only 4 private villas suspended over the water. Your exclusive villa is the perfect base to explore this peaceful stretch of the Zambezi at a pace that suits you – think canoe safaris, island picnics and sunrise or sunset river cruises in search of Zambia’s legendary wildlife. On return to the lodge, you might find a candle lit bubble bath set up on your private deck under the African night sky.
Good to know: Included in your lodge fee is a donation to the Bricks and Barters fund which helps feed 500 children a year in the local foundation schools in Zambia.
Tucked away on a private island, Relais & Châteaux Royal Chundu Zambezi Island Lodge offers the utmost privacy for discerning travelers. Each of the four villas are set between the baobabs and lead out onto a spacious private deck fitted with a riverfront bathtub.
Each day at Royal Chundu Zambezi Island Lodge is designed to suit you! Activities include birding safaris, tiger fishing, canoeing, a village tour, and a tour of Victoria Falls, the largest sheet of falling water in the world. However you spend your day, be sure to end it with the daily sundowner river cruise.
After breakfast, you will be transferred to Livingstone Airport by car for your onward journey to Sanctuary Sussi & Chuma, a 25 minute road transfer. Located within Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park, Sanctuary Sussi & Chuma overlooks a quiet bend of the Zambezi River. You will check in to one of the suites. There are an array of experiences to fill your day from game drives in custom-build 4×4 safari vehicles and canoeing on the Zambezi to fishing expeditions and excursions to the local Nakatindi village. Sanctuary Sussi & Chuma is the only lodge in Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park to offer guided walking safaris, an experience that is sure to be a highlight of your stay. You will have a private safari vehicle and guide for the duration of your stay.
Sanctuary Sussi & Chuma features 12 tree houses that are connected o the main public areas by wooden walkways. The tree houses are in large ebony trees. The main areas has a wine cellar, lounge, open-air dining area, curio shop and refreshing swimming pool.
Take advantage of your location on a Zambezi river cruise, fishing excursions and a guided tour of Victoria Falls. Other activities include expertly guided walking safaris and game drives in Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park where you can expect to see a range of wildlife including rhino, elephant, buffalo and giraffe.
The third leg of your Luxury Private Safari in Zambia takes you to Sausage Tree Camp, a remote safari lodge located in Lower Zambezi National Park. After a seamless check-out at Sanctuary Sussi & Chuma, you will be accompanied to Livingstone Airport for your light aircraft flight to the lodge. With only seven luxury tented suites, this exclusive lodge promises a premier wildlife experience without the crowds. The tented suites are dotted along the banks of the Zambezi and are fitted with a private deck and plunge pool, lounge area and dedicated butler to ensure your stay is world-class. During your stay you will have a guaranteed private guide who will accompany you on morning and evening game drives, walking safaris, canoe excursions, scenic boat cruises and fishing expeditions.
Today marks the final day of your Luxury Private Safari in Zambia. After a refreshing breakfast on the banks of the Zambezi River, your guide will accompany you to the bush airstrip for your light aircraft flight to Livingstone International Airport or Lusaka Airport (depending on your flight out of Zambia) and onward journey home.
