About this trip

This luxurious safari in Kenya invites you to step back in time and relive the timeless scenes of Meryl Streep and Robert Redford in “Out of Africa”. Lovers of the Hollywood film will be treated to an unforgettable adventure combined with age-old romance luxury hotels and camps in Nairobi, Ol Derkesi Community Conservancy and the Masai Mara. Here, you’ll visit the farmhouse once owned by Baroness Karen Blixen, stay at one of the oldest safari camps in existence, bathe in old-world canvas baths in the savannah, discover Kenya’s wild places in a vintage wooden-panelled safari vehicle and experience a private picnic on the Out of Africa Kopje – a nod to film’s renowned poster.

Arrive Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, Nairobi

Check-in Hemingways Nairobi

Your ‘Out of Africa’ safari starts on arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. A Ker & Downey® Africa representative will meet you and assist you through customs for a seamless arrival. From here, you will be transferred to Hemingways Nairobi – a luxurious boutique hotel perfectly located a mere 15 minutes from the vibrant city center. The perfect starting point for an ‘Out of Africa’ safari, Nairobi served as the home of Danish author Baroness Karen Blixen-Finecke. After check-in, allow yourself time to stroll around the 10-acre grounds overlooking the Mbagathi River and as the sun is setting, sit on the wicker furniture on the spacious patio or visit the gym with a steam room and sauna. The bar has fantastic cocktails as well as Hemingway’s very own inventions. A full day private Nairobi city tour will be a highlight of your time in Nairobi, especially visiting the well-preserved farmhouse where Karen Blixen stayed from 1917 to 1931. We recommend visiting the Bomas of Kenya, a great place to learn about the lifestyle and culture of each tribe.

Where you’ll stay: Hemingways Nairobi

Considered one of the best 5 star boutique hotels in Nairobi, Hemingways Nairobi features 45 spacious suites each fitted with a private terrace overlooking the Ngong Hills and butler service. Guests can enjoy the hotel’s bar, swimming pool and inhouse Serenity Spa.
