Discover Tanzania’s wildlife meccas at Lake Manyara National Park, Ngorongoro Crater, and Serengeti National Park on Big 5 safari game drives with your loved ones before venturing east to the island of Zanzibar for 4 laidback days in paradise.
Your Tanzania and Zanzibar Family Holiday starts on arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport where a Ker & Downey® Africa representative will welcome you and your family to one of Africa’s premier safari destinations, Tanzania. You will be transferred to Arusha Coffee Lodge, an intimate lodge located on the outskirts of Arusha and gateway to your Tanzania safari. Check in to your Plantation Room and enjoy a scenic stay on the verdant foothills of Mount Meru. For coffee enthusiasts, we recommend exploring the working coffee plantation on a guided tour to gain insight into the age-old craft of coffee production.
After a refreshing breakfast on the foothills of Mount Meru, your safari adventure begins! Your driver will meet you and transfer you to the wildlife mecca, Ngorongoro Crater. En route, you can enjoy a game drive through Lake Manyara National Park – home to Tanzania’s tree-climbing lions – and enjoy a picnic lunch overlooking the flamingo adorned shores of Lake Manyara’s soda-ash lake. Your journey continues as you make your way through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area to The Manor at Ngorongoro. Located within the Shangri-La estate, this intimate farm-style lodge offers guests an exclusive stay with just 18 luxurious cottages dispersed throughout the grounds. A highlight of your stay will be a safari experience in the world-famous Ngorongoro Crater followed by a picnic luncheon on the crater floor. The crater is home to a plethora of wildlife including resident lion, leopard and cheetah as well as wildebeest, buffalo, zebra, rhino and hyena.
Located within the Shangri-La coffee estate, The Manor at Ngorongoro offers guests an exclusive stay with only 18 farm cottages dispersed throughout the grounds. The cottages feature a private courtyard, deck and both indoor and outdoor fireplaces – the perfect spot for a nightcap after an exhilarating day on safari.
Besides games drives in the Ngorongoro Crater and bush picnics on the Crater floor, your time at The Manor at Ngorongoro can be spent on excursions to nearby a Maasai market as well as soaking up farm-style living on guided walks, bicycle rides and horse-riding excursions through the estate.
Your safari experience continues as you journey to Serengeti National Park. After a hearty breakfast overlooking the Crater floor, your driver will meet you and transfer you to the ultra-luxurious Serengeti Pioneer Camp, an environmentally sensitive tented camp located within the Moru Kopjes. It is here that the desires of any safari enthusiast are realised and guests can enjoy direct access to the annual Great Wildebeest Migration and Africa’s legendary Big 5 – lion, leopard, rhino, buffalo and elephant. During your stay, you can explore this wildlife sanctuary on expertly led safari game drives as well as a bucket list worthy hot air balloon ride over the Serengeti.
Located in the heart of the Serengeti, within the Moru Kopjes area, Serengeti Pioneer Camp offers guests superb access to the annual Great Wildebeest Migration and Big 5. The camp consists of only twelve luxury en-suite tents, including a spacious family tent, harking back to the old-world safari glamour of the 1930s.
There is a multitude of activities on offer at Serengeti Pioneer Camp. Activities include expertly guided game drives through the Serengeti plains, a private champagne bush breakfast or lunch, and hot air balloon safaris. At the end of a memorable day enjoy dining under the Africa stars with camp-fire dining.
Today marks your final day on safari. After breakfast, your driver will accompany you to the Seronera airstrip for your scheduled flight to the tropical island of Zanzibar. Touch down in Zanzibar where a resort representative will greet you and accompany you to Gold Zanzibar Beach House & Spa. Located on Kendwa beach in the far north-east of the island, Gold Zanzibar offers luxurious beachfront accommodation with two on-site restaurants, Healing Earth Spa and an outdoor swimming pool overlooking the beach. For the next four days, you can soak up the very best of island living and enjoy family time on the safe swimming beach, or venture further afield to the island’s lush spice plantations and historical Stone Town. The price is based on booking 61 days and more prior to arrival.
Day ten marks the final day of your Tanzania and Zanzibar Family Holiday. After breakfast at the resort’s Kilimanjaro Restaurant, you will be transferred to the Zanzibar airport for your onward journey home.
