About this trip

Our 12 Day Tanzania and Zanzibar honeymoon is what African dreams are made of. You and your better half will be transported to a world where African wildlife is at your doorstep and luxury is around every corner. Starting in Arusha, you will journey onwards to Tanzania’s most prolific wildlife destination including Tarangire National Park, Ngorongoro Conservation Area, and the Serengeti National Park – home to the annual Wildebeest Migration. Your time in Tanzania can be spent however you see fit – from daily game drives, walking safaris and Maasai cultural experiences, to romantic candle-lit dinners under the stars, couple massages and outdoor baths overlooking the African plains. This African bush and beach honeymoon has been crafted to give you utmost privacy on your memorable trip while guiding you through adventurous days and leaving you with luxurious nights. Your exciting safari experience is followed by a barefoot luxury experience in Zanzibar where you will spend three days indulging in island living.

Check-in Legendary Lodge

Your 12 Day Tanzania and Zanzibar honeymoon starts on arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport in Tanzania. Our Ker & Downey® Africa representative will await your arrival for your VIP transfer to Arusha where you will check into Legendary Lodge, the most prestigious property in the area. You can expect a 1 hour 30 minute drive which will give you a sneak preview of the African way of life. Located on the western outskirts of Arusha, at the foot of Mount Meru, Legendary Lodge is the ideal start to your Tanzania and Zanzibar honeymoon. Your garden cottage will guarantee utmost privacy during your stay and your private verandah is the perfect spot to marvel at the views of Mount Meru in the distance. After making yourself at home you will have the afternoon to explore the lush tropical gardens of the property or to visit the working coffee plantations surrounding the lodge for a savory coffee tour.

If you would like to take this time to relax and rejuvenate after your long flight you can indulge in a couples massage at the Legendary Spa.

This evening, celebrate your night on your Tanzania and Zanzibar honeymoon with a candle-lit dinner accompanied by gourmet dishes and a selection of fine wines. After dinner tuck into the comforts of your cottage by enjoying a nightcap in front of your fireplace or enjoying a bath.

Transfer to Tarangire National Park

Check-in Lemala Mpingo Ridge Lodge

Your day will start with a full English breakfast at the old farmhouse accompanied by freshly brewed coffee from the neighboring coffee plantation. After breakfast and a seamless check-out, your luxury 4×4 transfer will pick you up for your road transfer to your first safari destination – Tarangire National Park. During your 2 hours 40 minute drive to reach the park, you will stop for a packed picnic lunch prepared by your guide. En route to your home base for the night, you can enjoy your first game drive in Tarangire National Park as you make your way to Lemala Mpingo Ridge Lodge. Being the sixth largest national park in Tanzania, Tarangire remains an untouched destination on the main safari circuit that offers everything you can dream of for your African safari – classic African savannahs, green hills, woodlands, rivers, baobab trees, and incredible wildlife, especially large herds of elephants and superb birdlife.

Lemala Mpingo Ridge Lodge sits on top of an escarpment overlooking the Tarangire River and valley below. A truly romantic location, you will be one of 30 people at most to enjoy the exclusive property. Your private tented room features an en-suite bathroom, a private deck and most importantly, an outside bathtub. If you are not out on a game drive you can also make use of the communal lounge, bar, spa or swimming pool for your time at leisure. After settling into your suite, you can freshen up to enjoy a sundowner on the deck followed by an African fine-dining experience at the lodge restaurant.

Game drives & walking safari

Your first full day at Lemala Mpingo Ridge will start with an early breakfast followed by a morning game drive in Tarangire National Park. If you and your partner would like to explore the area on foot, you can also partake in a guided nature walk before setting off for the day. Today, you can expect great wildlife sightings in the park followed by a packed lunch which will be enjoyed at a designated location picked out by your guide. Return to Mpingo Ridge Lodge in the afternoon for some time at leisure followed by a candle-lit dinner under the stars.

The next leg of your Tanzania and Zanzibar Honeymoon will transport you to the famous Ngorongoro Conservation Area. After breakfast at Lemala Mpingo Ridge, you will prepare for your transfer to Nomad Entamanu Ngorongoro. Your guide will collect you and start your 3-hour journey to your next destination, stopping along the way to enjoy a luxury picnic lunch with your partner. Your day’s adventure will include a safari game drive in Lake Manyara National Park, famous for its legendary tree-climbing lions, impressively tusked elephant and hippo pool. Here, you will have the opportunity to capture great photographic shots of your honeymoon experience. After your game drive, you will have another 37 miles to cover before reaching your home base for the night, Nomad Entamanu Ngorongoro. The luxury tented camp is positioned in a secluded area of the famous Ngorongoro

Conservation Area which will offer you and your partner a private experience of the wildlife mecca in the Ngorongoro Crater. Featuring only 7 spacious suites, privacy is guaranteed accompanied with all of the creature comforts you would like to have on your African honeymoon. Ngorongoro Crater

Your first morning in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area will start with a hearty breakfast to set you up for an exciting day in the Ngorongoro Crater. Accessing the Crater soon after dawn, your expert guide knows just where to go to avoid the masses and to discover the outstanding volumes of wildlife in the Crater. Today, you can expect to see some of Africa’s last rhinoceros to abundant birdlife including flamingos and lovebirds. A picnic lunch will be served at the base of the crater before heading back to your lodge. This afternoon you can spend your time at leisure. Alternatively, you can join a highland walk alongside a Maasai scout and armed ranger which will allow you to walk freely along the rim of the crater. You can expect expansive views of the crater and a beautiful sunset which can be enjoyed with a drink in hand.

If you and your partner have a keen interest in the culture and people of Tanzania, we also recommend a visit to the nearby Maasai boma where you can gain insights into the lives of the Maasai people, their pastoral life, warrior ceremonies, and building huts.

Transfer to Central Serengeti

Check-in Lemala Nanyukie

After breakfast at Nomad Entamanu you will be met by your driver for your transfer to Lemala Nanyukie located in the famous Serengeti National Park, considered on the world’s most celebrated wilderness areas. This will be your last safari stop before heading off to the East for your Zanzibar honeymoon. En route Lemala Nanyukie Tented Lodge you will enjoy a picnic lunch followed by a game drive in the Serengeti National Park.

On arrival at the lodge, you will follow a seamless check-in and settle into your luxurious tented suite. Your spacious tent features a lounge, a generous bathroom with double vanity, shower and a free-standing bathtub. A wooden deck surrounds your suite which is kitted out with an outdoor shower and a corner plunge pool to be enjoyed as you see fit.

Depending on your time of travel the highlight of your trip will undoubtedly be the thrilling wildlife spectacle of the annual wildebeest migration from the comfort of your suite. The area is also well known for its high-density wildlife sightings and the large concentration of big cats.

Located in the Central Serengeti, Lemala Nanyukie features spacious tents with a private wooden deck kitted out with an outdoor shower and a corner plunge pool to be enjoyed as you see fit.

Day seven – eight

Central Serengeti

Game drives & walking safaris

Use the next two days to soak up luxury safari living in the Serengeti. Wake up at your own pace and enjoy a morning coffee on your private verandah. Enjoy breakfast between 06h30 and 10h00 followed by your morning game drive lead by an expert wildlife guide. If you prefer to be a bit more active you can also opt-in for a walking safari alongside an armed ranger and nature expert.

Lunch can be enjoyed at the lodge or alternatively, a packed lunch can be arranged if you are out on a game drive. Your afternoons can be spent at leisure enjoying the use of your private plunge pool and if you are feeling peckish a daily afternoon tea will be served from 15h30.

In celebration of your honeymoon, you can also be treated to a private dinner served by the poolside, campfire or at a scenic location on the property.

Located in the Central Serengeti, Lemala Nanyukie features spacious tents with a private wooden deck kitted out with an outdoor shower and a corner plunge pool to be enjoyed as you see fit.

Day nine – eleven

Transfer to Zanzibar

Check-in Kilindi Zanzibar

Day 9 marks the end of your Tanzania safari and the start of your Zanzibar honeymoon at Kilindi Zanzibar. After a full English breakfast, you will prepare for your road transfer to Seronera Airstrip, a short drive from Lemala Nanyuki. You will board your charter flight with Auric Air departing at 11h00 and arriving in Zanzibar at approximately 14h20. On arrival, your Ker & Downey® Africa representative will meet you for your 1-hour 15-minute transfer to Kilindi Zanzibar.

Located on the north-west coast of Zanzibar, on the shores of the Indian Ocean, you will be graced with the view of a series of white-domed pavilion guest villas spread across 35 acres of lush tropical gardens. Your Zanzibar honeymoon will start on a backdrop of Scandinavian minimalism and dramatic Middle Eastern architecture. Your honeymoon pavilion boasts views

of the Indian Ocean from the comfort of your bed, as well as from your private plunge pool and outside “rain” shower. During your stay you will have a dedicated butler who will cater to your every need – from romantic alfresco dinners on the terrace or on the pristine white beaches, to booking your spa treatments and crafting your daily itinerary.
