About this trip

This 7 day Luxury Tented Safari in Tanzania has been crafted with the avid safari enthusiast in mind. The combination of classic safari elements and raw wildlife experiences, made even more thrilling by the addition of mobile camps makes this LuxVenture® trip one you can’t afford not to tick off the list. Luxury mobile camps take you to some of the most remote regions of the bush, putting you in the heart of the action for unforgettable intimate experiences with the wildlife. Beginning in Arusha, which is the gateway to the northern circuit, you will move on to the game-rich Ngorongoro Conservation Area – one of the Seven Natural Wonders of Africa. From here, you will move into the northern Serengeti National Park for an opportunity to witness the thrilling Great Wildebeest Migration.

Check in Arusha Coffee Lodge

Your Luxury Tented Safari in Tanzania begins at Kilimanjaro International Airport where a representative from Ker & Downey® Africa will welcome you and transfer you to Arusha Coffee Lodge. Here, you will check in to your spacious Plantation Cottage and can spend the afternoon either relaxing around the swimming pool, exploring the lush gardens, or enjoying a unique plantation tour to see how the coffee is grown, harvested, dried and produced. In the evening, enjoy a light meal at the all-night bistro cafe or a more substantial traditional meal in The Grill Room. This is the perfect base to begin your luxury mobile safari and enjoy the sights, sounds and culture of Tanzania.

Where you’ll stay: Arusha Coffee Lodge

Located on one of Tanzania’s largest working coffee plantations, Arusha Coffee Lodge comprises 30 comfortably furnished plantation cottages each boasting breathtaking views of Mount Meru. Designed around the original landowner’s home that dates back to the early 1900’s, the homestead emits homely glimpses of a bygone era.

Day two – four

Transfer Ngorongoro Conservation Area

Check in Lemala Ngorongoro

After a hearty breakfast, you will be collected by a dedicated guide for a scenic game drive through Lake Manyara National Park. You will be taken to see a magnificent Rift Valley soda lake where thousands of pink flamingos can be seen dotted along the shore line. Herds of buffalo, cheetah, giraffe and impala also roam the forests and valleys, and you may even be fortunate enough to encounter the region’s famous tree-climbing lions in action. After a gourmet picnic lunch in a small clearing on the lake’s western shore, you will be transferred to the luxurious Lemala Ngorongoro Tented Camp. The camp is ideally located on the crater’s rim with easy access to the crater floor and its abundance of wildlife including herds of Thomson’s gazelles, wildebeest, zebras, hyenas, endangered wild dogs, and significant populations of all the Big Five. End your days enjoying the cherished Africa tradition of sundowners as you witness the sun setting over the plains.

Where you’ll stay: Lemala Ngorongoro Tented Camp

Lemala Ngorongoro Tented Camp is an intimate luxury tented lodge, located on the rim of the magnificent Ngorongoro Crater, just 15 minutes from the game-rich crater floor. The 9 luxury tents are shaded under a large canopy of Acacia trees, positioned carefully to provide privacy with minimal impact on the pristine forest environment.

Transfer Serengeti National Park

Check-in Alex Walker’s Serian Serengeti Lamai

After a refreshing breakfast, you will be transferred to the local airstrip in Manyara. Here, you will board your light aircraft charter for a short flight to the Kogatende airstrip in Serengeti National Park. The Serengeti is the 9th largest national park in the world and considered the best rated for game viewing, with one million wildebeest passing through each year for the thrilling Great Wildebeest Migration. A representative will meet you at the airstrip and assist you with your transfer to Alex Walker’s Serian Serengeti Lamai, located just 10 minutes from the Mara River and other major wildebeest crossing points. Throughout your stay at this intimate safari camp, you will enjoy exclusive use of a dedicated 4×4 safari vehicle with a private guide and spotter at no extra cost. A highlight of your stay will be a hot air balloon safari at sunrise where you can witness the wildlife come to life and go about their morning routines while drifting peacefully across the shifting landscape and expansive plains below. On your descent, you can enjoy a decadent champagne breakfast in the bush before your leisurely game drive back to camp.

This plush mobile camp follows the wildebeest migration and is located in the north of the park for 6 months of the year (mid-June to mid-November). It comprises 6 classic colonial style en-suite tents and comes with an exclusive-use 4×4 safari vehicle with a dedicated guide and spotter to optimize your experience.

Today marks the end of your Luxury Tented Safari in Tanzania. Enjoy a delicious breakfast at camp (and a morning safari if time allows) before your game drive to the airstrip and your scheduled light aircraft charter flight to Kilimanjaro International Airport. Here, you will bid a fond farewell to Tanzania and board your scheduled flight home.
